Two weeks after 3-yr old Syrian refugee Aylan Kurdi was found drowned on a Turkish beach, our founder Sophie Tarnowska organized our first FUNraiser for displaced Syrians stuck in Syria, via Doctors without Borders. We had no idea this would be the beginning of WeDoSomething Mtl!
Fifty Montrealers bought tickets, and so many businesses supported our efforts. From the family behind Restaurant La Sirène De La Mer and Adonis supermarkets who donated ALL the ingredients we needed to cook a Syrian mezze, to Location Gervais who provided every single table, chair, knife and fork, and Bambara Selection, who gave us amazing wines at great prices. Together we raised $3454.75 - which was doubled by an anonymous donor, for Doctors Without Borders/ Médecins Sans Frontières’ refugee work. WeDIDsomething. Thank you for the photos Ali and Anne!
